Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Corunna Cavaliers walked away with it. They walked away with a 28-17 victory over Notre Dame Prep on Friday. The win was just business as usual for Corunna, who after 11 games remain undefeated this season.
Corunna's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaden Edington, who rushed for 88 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Tarick Bower, who picked up 131 receiving yards and a touchdown.
When it comes to explaining why Notre Dame Prep lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jacob Tuttle. Despite the final result, he threw for 224 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Zach Mylenek, who rushed for 147 yards.
Corunna's win was their 12th straight at home (dating back to last season), which pushed their record up to 11-0. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 28.42 points. As for Notre Dame Prep, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-1.
Corunna has the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome Lutheran North at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Lutheran North will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 135th, while Corunna is ranked sixth). Notre Dame Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
