The Southeast Alamance Stallions will head out to take on the Orange Panthers at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. Southeast Alamance will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
On Tuesday, Southeast Alamance took their game with ease, bagging a 56-21 win over Southern Alamance. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-8.
Southeast Alamance relied on the efforts of Rreanna Johnson, who posted 14 points and five steals, and Clara LaChapelle, who earned 16 points. Shaniya Paylor was another key player, putting up five points and five assists.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Orange, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They breezed past Cedar Ridge to the tune of 65-36 on Tuesday. The contest marked the Panthers' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Southeast Alamance better keep an eye on Maura McMurtry. She was instrumental in Orange's win, shooting 50% from the field en route to 17 points along with seven steals and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Kassidy Tolliver, who went 6-for-8 to rack up 16 points and seven rebounds.
Orange was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.
Orange now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Southeast Alamance, their record now sits at 8-0.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Southeast Alamance has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 37.4 boards per game. However, it's not like Orange struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Southeast Alamance came out on top in a nail-biter against Orange when the teams last played back in December of 2024, sneaking past 74-72. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Stallions since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
