The Walnut Mustangs will square off against the Los Altos Conquerors at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Walnut got the win against Rowland by a conclusive 11-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.
Aubrey Birtness made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Birtness was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Leylani Salazar was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double. Rihanna Jimenez was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Los Altos ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They came out on top against Gahr by a score of 5-2. The Conquerors' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Kaylahni Duenas spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, Jasmine Campos was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Payton Godinez, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Los Altos kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gahr only managed seven.
Los Altos' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Walnut, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
