Dundee-Crown is 2-8 against McHenry since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Chargers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. Dundee-Crown is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Dundee-Crown took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. Everything went their way against Elk Grove as they made off with a 14-4 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Chargers considering their two-run performance the match before.
The team relied heavily on Alyssa Gale, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Jeffs, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Dundee-Crown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .567. They are 7-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, McHenry beat Cary-Grove 7-2 on Thursday. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Natalie Bender spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, McHenry let Danica McCarthy and Kendal Rogers run wild. McCarthy went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base, while Rogers went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Dundee-Crown's victory bumped their record up to 8-14. As for McHenry, their win bumped their record up to 10-13.
McHenry's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Dundee-Crown has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. It's a different story for McHenry, though, as they've been averaging 9.4 hits. Given Dundee-Crown's sizable advantage in that area, the Warriors will need to find a way to close that gap.
Dundee-Crown suffered a grim 13-7 defeat to McHenry in their previous meeting back in April. Will the Chargers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
