Rocket City is a perfect 3-0 against Huntland since March of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Rockets will head out to square off against the Hornets at 5:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Rocket City has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Huntland will arrive with three straight victories.
Rocket City lost 11-2 to Tennessee Heat on Saturday.
Taylor Watson made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Thursday Huntland sidestepped Culleoka for a 2-1 win. That's two games straight that the Hornets have won by just one run.
Eli Fitch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Huntland let Bryant Mooney and Grant Jernigan run wild. Mooney went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double, while Jernigan went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.
Huntland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .342 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Huntland's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Rocket City, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.
Rocket City's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's matchup. The Rockets have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Huntland, though, as they've been averaging only 0.7 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Rocket City continue to outrun the ball?
Rocket City was able to grind out a solid win over Huntland in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, winning 11-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rockets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
