Clear Creek is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Thursday. They will look to defend their home field against the Gilpin County Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Clear Creek comes in on four and Gilpin County on three.
On Thursday, Clear Creek narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past St. Mary's 46-43.

It was another big night for Jacob Young, who threw for 406 yards and four touchdowns while completing 77.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 65 yards on only seven carries. Those 406 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Titus Canelos was another key player, picking up 160 receiving yards and three scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Clear Creek was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 223 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 190 rushing yards in 11 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gilpin County). They blew past Justice 48-12 on Friday. The Eagles' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Clear Creek better keep an eye on Landon Church. He was instrumental in Gilpin County's win, rushing for 140 yards and three TDs on only seven carries, while also picking up 62 receiving yards and one touchdown. Church got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 93 yards.
Gilpin County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Vincent Schoell.
Clear Creek's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Gilpin County, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Thursday's game might be decided on the ground. Clear Creek has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 228.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Gilpin County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 194 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Clear Creek against Gilpin County in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 60-20 win. In that matchup, the Golddiggers amassed a halftime lead of 38-12, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
