Ava Angel and Chloe Bennett stepped up to the plate in a big way. Angel got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double, while Bennett went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Bennett is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Maggie Davis was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Chesapeake didn't have quite enough to beat Oak Hill on Thursday and fell 7-5.
Chesapeake saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaeden Anderson, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double.
Chesapeake's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Gallia Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.
Chesapeake's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Gallia Academy has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. It's a different story for Chesapeake, though, as they've been averaging 8.8 hits. Given Gallia Academy's sizable advantage in that area, the Panthers will need to find a way to close that gap.
Gallia Academy got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April against Chesapeake by a conclusive 22-0 score. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
