Chaparral never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Campo Verde Coyotes with a sharp 7-0 win. The Firebirds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Devin Long, who gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks to keep Campo Verde off the board. Long has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Chaparral's victory was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Mesa, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Chaparral was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Chaparral and bumps their season record up to 13-9. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Campo Verde, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-9 record this season.

Chaparral will have a chance to go back-to-back against Campo Verde: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
