Rappahannock has been on the road for three straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Essex Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Rappahannock posted their biggest win yet this season on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Lancaster with a sharp 45-24 win.
Meanwhile, Essex put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Lancaster 49-8 at home. Essex has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 26 points or more this season.
Essex got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaylah Mercer out in front who scored 24 points along with eight assists and seven steals. Mercer is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Self, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds and seven steals.
Rappahannock has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season. As for Essex, their win bumped their record up to 9-0.
Rappahannock took their win against Essex when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 61-39. With Rappahannock ahead 37-16 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
