After a string of nine wins, the North Johnston Panthers's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 40-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Vance Charter. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points North Johnston has scored all season.
Vance Charter found their leader in underclassman Alyssa Bullock, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. The contest was Bullock's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Emily Reese was another key contributor, scoring six points along with nine rebounds.
North Johnston's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-1. As for Vance Charter, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Johnston will square off against Rosewood at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th. Vance Charter and Roxboro Community will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Roxboro Community will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 296th, while Vance Charter is ranked 123rd).
