The Griffin Bears waltzed into their contest on Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They strolled past Spalding with points to spare, taking the game 72-54. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Griffin also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Griffin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Camiya Starks led the charge by scoring 25 points along with five assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Starks has scored all season. Naima Foster was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Griffin pushed their record up to 12-7 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.1 points per game. As for Spalding, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Griffin and Perry will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Perry will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 327th, while Griffin is ranked 139th). As for Spalding, they will head out on the road to take on Baldwin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Baldwin knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 matchups -- so hopefully Spalding likes a good challenge.
