North Henderson is 2-8 against Franklin since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The North Henderson Knights will host the Franklin Panthers at 5:00 p.m. North Henderson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
North Henderson fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Rosman on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 9-7. The Knights just can't catch a break and have now endured six defeats in a row.
Audrey Snowden put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over eight innings while giving up three earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Amber Matlak made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. Bailey Simpson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
Meanwhile, Franklin never let their opponents score on Friday. They blew past Pisgah 7-0. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won six in a row.
The result came thanks to Suzanna Cabe's shutout, as she gave up just five hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Franklin let Makayla Pendergrass and Meliah Mason run wild. Pendergrass went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double, while Mason went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlynn McConnell, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double.
Franklin lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more home runs.
North Henderson's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Franklin, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
Franklin's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: North Henderson has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .441. It's a different story for Franklin, though, as they've only averaged .364. Will they be able to contain North Henderson's hitters?
