This season hasn't been kind to the La Villa Cardinals, who are still winless after their 12th match. They fell just short of Hebbronville by a score of 39-36. La Villa was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Hebbronville apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2019.
Hebbronville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Joaquin Gonzales out in front who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Oscar Carrillo, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
La Villa's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Hebbronville, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10.
La Villa will be playing at home against Freer at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hebbronville and Agua Dulce will face off at 4:00 p.m. on December 28th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
