The Wilby Wildcats had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 71-58 victory over Woodland Regional. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Woodland Regional lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Dean Accetura, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of John Napiello, who scored 14 points.
Wilby is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Woodland Regional, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wilby will take on Derby at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wilby knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 17 games -- so hopefully Derby likes a good challenge. As for Woodland Regional, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Oxford at 6:30 p.m.
