If the Fairview Eagles were feeling good off their 39-10 takedown of the Heston Academy Patriots back in December of 2023, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Fairview opened the new year with a less-than-successful 37-27 loss to Au Gres-Sims. Fairview has struggled against Au Gres-Sims recently, as their match on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Au Gres-Sims' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sophie Fox, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Fox hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Lillie Maser, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Fairview's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Au Gres-Sims, they pushed their record up to 5-2 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairview will play host again and welcome Mio-Au Sable, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Mio-Au Sable is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Au Gres-Sims, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Hillman at 6:00 p.m.
