The Bonanza Bengals will head out on the road to square off against the Amplus Academy Archers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither Bonanza nor Amplus Academy posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.
Last Friday, Bonanza took a serious blow against Somerset Academy Losee, falling 49-12. Bonanza was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-2.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Amplus Academy, who are still winless after their ninth match. The match between Amplus Academy and Eldorado wasn't particularly close, with Amplus Academy falling 21-7.
Naomi Jacob was Amplus Academy's leading scorer, having posted four points.
Laylah Polk held things down on the boards with 13 rebounds.
Bonanza has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Amplus Academy, they bumped their record down to 0-9 with that defeat, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Bonanza strolled past Amplus Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 55-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bonanza since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
