The Hialeah Thoroughbreds will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Mourning Sharks at 7:30 p.m. Hialeah will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Tuesday, Hialeah strolled past Hialeah-Miami Lakes with points to spare, taking the game 50-36. Given Hialeah's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while Hialeah-Miami Lakes is ranked 685th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Mourning struggled with assists on Tuesday (Dr. Krop had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Mourning's rough 60-39 defeat to Dr. Krop might stick with them for a while. Mourning was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-15.
Pablo Rivas put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored ten points along with five rebounds and four steals. Rivas is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Marvin Laforest was another key contributor, scoring five points along with 11 rebounds.
Hialeah's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Mourning, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Everything came up roses for Hialeah against Mourning in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 79-31 win. Does Hialeah have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mourning turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
