Foothill is 4-0 against Durango since September of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Foothill Falcons will be playing at home against the Durango Trailblazers at 6:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Foothill's favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Durango has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
Last Friday, Foothill faced Basic in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The game between the pair wasn't particularly close, with Foothill falling 49-32. They had a rough season last year, but they look ready to turn that poor record around this year.
Defeat or not, Foothill got some senior leadership from Mason Dew who threw for 298 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.9 yards per attempt and Tarrell Mack-Lovely who picked up 142 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Dew is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, Durango had to suffer through a rough 33-6 loss at the hands of Desert Pines. While losing is never fun, Durango can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada football rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while Desert Pines is ranked fourth).
Daelyn Gray put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries. Gray's longest rush was for an incredible 74 yards.
Even if they lost, Durango's defensive line still kept up the pressure with five sacks. Desert Pines' QB won't forget Takoda Bliss anytime soon given Bliss sacked him five times.
The losses dropped Foothill to 8-2 and Durango to 1-8.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: Foothill has been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 306.5 passing yards per game. It's a different story for Durango, though, as they've been averaging only 119.7 per game. How will Durango fare against such a dominant passing game?
Everything came up roses for Foothill against Durango when the teams last played back in September as the team secured a 47-7 victory. Does Foothill have another victory up their sleeve, or will Durango turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
