Softball Game Preview: Manitowoc Lincoln Ships vs. Green Bay Preble Hornets

Manitowoc Lincoln is 0-10 against Green Bay Preble since April of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Ships will welcome the Hornets at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Manitowoc Lincoln made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Sheboygan North, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Ships put the hurt on the Golden Raiders with a sharp 17-7 win on Thursday.

Taylor Peterson and Jordin Popp did most of the damage at the plate: Peterson scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Popp went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave Popp a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Popp, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Green Bay Preble strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They never let Bay Port get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory.

Green Bay Preble got a massive performance out of Sam Foytik, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Sierra Krahn, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Green Bay Preble always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bay Port only posted an OBP of .333.

Green Bay Preble pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average this season. As for Manitowoc Lincoln, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
