The Northwood Timberwolves had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They walked away with a 61-52 victory over Woodbridge. For Northwood, this counts as revenge for the 45-37 defeat Woodbridge walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Zaid Yunis was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with eight rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 13 times he's played. Ryan Abaye was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
Northwood's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.7 points per game. As for Woodbridge, their loss dropped their record down to 12-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northwood will challenge Portola at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Portola is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Woodbridge, they will head out on the road to take on Irvine at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Irvine will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 406th, while Woodbridge is ranked 132nd).
