The Marmion Cadets''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 49-27 walloping at the hands of Saint Viator. Marmion was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Saint Viator apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2019.
Despite the defeat, Marmion saw an underclassman step up: Joey Favia rushed for 164 yards and three touchdowns.
Marmion's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.7 points per game. As for Saint Viator, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Marmion does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Saint Viator will head out on the road to face off against Richmond-Burton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Illinois (Richmond-Burton is ranked 81st, while Saint Viator is ranked 84th).
