Softball Recap: St. Genevieve Wins Going Away Against St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sacred Heart of Jesus, St. Genevieve was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over the St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy Warriors. The Valiants might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 11 runs or more this season.

Natalia Aranda made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Trinity Chesser was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. Kalesita Tuifua was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

St. Genevieve now has a winning record of 5-4. As for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-6.

When St. Genevieve and St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Valiants will try to stop Sacred Heart of Jesus' eight-game winning streak when they meet at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy will challenge La Salle and their three-game winning streak at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
