The Corliss Trojans were the 60-48 winner over the Chicago Vocational Cavaliers when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Corliss was beaten by Chicago Vocational 69-34 on Tuesday. Corliss was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-18.
Despite the loss, Corliss still got an impressive performance from Kameron Gouard, who scored 16 points. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for Gouard. Another player making a difference was Joshua Pegues, who scored seven points.
Chicago Vocational's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ron Thigpen, who scored 27 points. The match was Thigpen's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendaro Cassidy, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 assists.
Corliss' defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-7. As for Chicago Vocational, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 3-4 record this season.
Corliss will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Woodlawn at 4:30 p.m. Woodlawn is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Chicago Vocational, they will head out on the road to face off against Harlan at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Harlan is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
