Softball Recap: Kirtland Central Comes Up Short

Kirtland Central saw some tournament action on Friday. They took a 13-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Albuquerque Academy Chargers.

Tamirra Chee made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Elania Hosteen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Chee wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Kirtland Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Kirtland Central's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Albuquerque Academy, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Coming up, Kirtland Central will take on East Mountain in a tournament on Saturday. East Mountain has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 20 runs per game on average), something Kirtland Central will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Albuquerque Academy, they will take on Silver at 10:50 a.m. on Saturday. Albuquerque Academy's pitchers better be ready for this one: Silver has averaged an impressive 9.7 runs per game this season.
