While losing is never fun, Thomas Jefferson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while Vista PEAK Prep is ranked 32nd).
Despite the defeat, Thomas Jefferson saw an underclassman step up: Leyna Mcclinon scored seven points along with five rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Anisa Adrovic, who scored ten points.
Far Northeast W can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They really took it to Hinkley for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-11 win on the road. With Far Northeast W ahead 34-4 at the half, the match was all but over already.
It was another big night for Yaretzi Barraza, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Ashley Rodriquez, who scored eight points along with six steals.
Thomas Jefferson's loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Far Northeast W, their win bumped their record up to 8-13.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Thomas Jefferson have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 23.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Far Northeast W struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
