Basketball Recap: Jayden Marshall's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Temple Christian Academy over Baker County

If Temple Christian Academy was riding high fresh off their 63-41 takedown of Covenant School of Jacksonville on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Temple Christian Academy fell 61-51 to the Baker County Wildcats on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Temple Christian Academy of the 65-61 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Temple Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayden Marshall, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of JaCere Green, who posted 17 points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Temple Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.

Jamarion Goodman was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten boards for Baker County. Goodman has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jackson Carver, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 17 rebounds.

Temple Christian Academy dropped their record down to 5-9 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points per game. As for Baker County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-4.

Temple Christian Academy will host Atlantic Coast at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Temple Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.2 points per game this season. As for Baker County, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-44 defeat against Bradford on the 11th.
