Rushford-Peterson is 7-2 against Wabasha-Kellogg since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Rushford-Peterson Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Wabasha-Kellogg Falcons at 7:15 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Tuesday, Rushford-Peterson took a serious blow against Hayfield, falling 69-36. Rushford-Peterson has struggled against Hayfield recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Wabasha-Kellogg's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They suffered a tough 63-43 defeat at the hands of Spring Grove. While losing is never fun, Wabasha-Kellogg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 355th, while Spring Grove is ranked 123rd).
Despite the defeat, Wabasha-Kellogg had strong showings from Brielle Adams, who scored 19 points, and Madge Strobush, who scored four points along with 13 rebounds and four steals. Strobush is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ileana DeAngel, who scored 16 points.
Rushford-Peterson's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Wabasha-Kellogg, they bumped their record down to 1-7 with that defeat, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for Rushford-Peterson against Wabasha-Kellogg in their previous matchup back in January as the team secured a 73-20 win. With Rushford-Peterson ahead 44-12 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
