Berks Inter-County 2 recap Oct. 16, 2012
Berks Catholic moved up to 137 from 163 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Berks Inter-County 2. The Saints were able to make the jump by defeating Hamburg 35-7.
Wyomissing suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after topping Fleetwood. The Spartans had been ranked 25th, but fell to 29.
Matt Kase put up the best numbers through the air as Berks Catholic defeated the Hawks. He finished with three completions for 93 yards and two touchdowns. Kase's favorite target this week was Jack Huntsman, who caught two passes for 91 yards.
Nate Onorofsky was the best wideout in the league this week as Kutztown fell to Chestnut Ridge. Onorofsky tallied six receptions for 94 yards. Dustin Smith helped Kutztown's passing attack out by catching one ball for 24 yards.
Bryce Galczynski provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Cougars lost to the Lions. He completed 10 passes for 152 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 185 yards.
Blue Mountain's Shane Grapsy and Tristan Dickey have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Grapsy has thrown for 684 yards this season, while Dickey, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 12 catches for 326 yards. Rick Keeley's team's Huntsman leads the league in rushing yards with 696.
A big matchup in Berks Inter-County 2 this week will be when Hamburg takes on Wyomissing. As it stands, Joe Sinkovich's team is in fourth, while Bob Wolfrum's team is in first.
The Spartans extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Tigers, 52-6. The win marks seventh in a row for the Wyomissing.
