The Madison-Grant Argylls will take on the Frankton Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Madison-Grant is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Madison-Grant fell victim to Shenandoah and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Raiders, falling 7-0. The Argylls have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Madison-Grant saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chad Lamb, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.
Meanwhile, Frankton got themselves on the board against Taylor on Monday, but Taylor never followed suit. They blew past the Titans 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won six matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Jaden Clem tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mason Jones, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Caine Oakley was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Frankton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Taylor only posted a batting average of .235.
Frankton has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Madison-Grant, their loss dropped their record down to 12-8.
Madison-Grant's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. The Argylls have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Frankton, though, as they've been averaging only 1.4 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Madison-Grant continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Madison-Grant's way against Frankton in their previous matchup back in April, as Madison-Grant made off with a 13-2 win. Do the Argylls have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
