St. Michael-Albertville has gone 9-1 against Edina recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Knights will face off against the Hornets at 6:30 p.m. St. Michael-Albertville is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
St. Michael-Albertville hadn't beaten Elk River on the road since June 8, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Monday. The Knights came out on top against the Elks by a score of 11-6. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 23, 2022, but that streak is no more.
Wes Byer looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ashton Crank, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Grady Johnson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first doubles of the season.
Meanwhile, Edina got the win against Minneapolis Southwest on Monday by a conclusive 12-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hornets.
Reid LaFrenz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. LaFrenz was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other pitching news, Edina got a great performance from Will Grandberg as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits.
Back at the plate, Chase Bjorgaard was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Lincoln Page, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Edina was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
St. Michael-Albertville's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Edina, the win got them back to even at 6-6-1.
St. Michael-Albertville skirted past Edina 6-5 in their previous meeting back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
