Troy Christian is on a four-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and National Trail a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The Troy Christian Eagles will welcome the National Trail Blazers at 5:00 p.m. Troy Christian has given up an average of 15.9 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Troy Christian came up short against Bethel on Thursday, falling 25-5.
Troy Christian saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylee Eschete, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That double was Eschete's first of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask National Trail). They blew past Franklin Monroe 17-2 on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Blazers considering their two-run performance the match before.
Morgan House made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. House was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, National Trail let Carley Hamm and Taylor Reynolds run wild. Hamm went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Reynolds went 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Reynolds a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eva Swartsell, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs.
National Trail always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The win snapped National Trail's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-8 record. As for Troy Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.
