Yorktown is 1-8 against Pendleton Heights since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Yorktown Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Pendleton Heights Arabians at 7:30 p.m. Yorktown will be strutting in after a victory while Pendleton Heights will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Wednesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Yorktown beat Mississinewa 43-39. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Yorktown.
It was another big night for Lilly Sylvester, who scored 27 points along with nine rebounds. The match was her 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayley Reece, who scored five points.
Pendleton Heights has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 66-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lawrence Central on Saturday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Pendleton Heights in their matchups with Lawrence Central: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the defeat, Pendleton Heights got a solid performance out of Kaycie Warfel, who scored 28 points along with six steals. Warfel scored a full 49.1% of Pendleton Heights' points, the 12th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Olivia Jones was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.
Yorktown's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Pendleton Heights, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-4 record this season.
Yorktown ended up a good deal behind Pendleton Heights in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, losing 63-45. Can Yorktown avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
