A big 28-point second quarter helped carry
Sherman (Texas) to a 45-21 victory over
McKinney North (McKinney, Texas) on Saturday.
The Bearcats scored on a rushing touchdown, a touchdown run, a touchdown catch by
Dru Smith and a passing touchdown in the quarter.
After taking the lead on a touchdown in the second quarter, Sherman led 28-14 at the half.
SHS expanded its lead to 28 points entering the fourth quarter. The Bearcats scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by
Tre Mask.
Smith was the top performer for Sherman. The senior quarterback threw one touchdown and caught one touchdown.
The Bulldogs'
Tre Sanders played well. The junior wide receiver caught two touchdowns. His performance brought his touchdown total to three on the year.
The victory was a step in the right direction for SHS, which was coming off a 35-21 defeat at the hands of Highland Park in its previous game.
In a 4A Region II District 13 game next week Sherman (3-1) takes on Denison, and McKinney North (0-4) will go up against Royse City also in a 4A Region II District 13 game.
