The Jackson-Reed Tigers will head out on the road to take on the DeMatha Stags at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Jackson-Reed is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
Jackson-Reed's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Bell as they made off with an 18-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won eight matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Lewis Lahey looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

Ben Shapiro
04/09/25 @ Bell | 4 |
03/21/25 @ Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering | 3 |
03/24/25 vs Coolidge | 2 |
03/07/25 @ Bishop McNamara | 2 |
03/22/25 vs Southern Maryland Christian Academy | 1 |
At the plate, Ben Shapiro was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Roscoe Stutz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Jackson-Reed kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, DeMatha is ranked highly in their home state and on Wednesday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Gonzaga. The Stags fell 6-1 to the Eagles. The Stags' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Wes Hall was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero).
On the hitting side, DeMatha saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooks Franklin, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
DeMatha's defeat dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Jackson-Reed, their record now sits at 12-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Jackson-Reed has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like DeMatha struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Jackson-Reed might still be hurting after the 9-1 loss they got from DeMatha when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
