Hobart is 2-8 against Lowell since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Brickies will be playing in front of their home fans against the Red Devils at 4:45 p.m. Hobart has given up an average of 8.6 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Hobart is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 19 runs on Saturday, they were much more limited against Munster on Monday. They came up short against the Mustangs, falling 11-1.
Hobart saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emili Knestrict, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lowell, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Illiana Christian on Thursday as they made off with a 12-5 victory. The Red Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.
Olivia Fuentes was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Fuentes was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 11 games.
In other batting news, Preslee Hill was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That stolen base was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Lonardi, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Lowell pushed their record up to 14-5 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Hobart, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hobart hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .343. However, it's not like Lowell struggles in that department as they've averaged .322. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hobart might still be hurting after the 8-2 loss they got from Lowell when the teams last played back in April. Will the Brickies have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
