The East Palestine Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Wellsville Tigers at 7:00 p.m. East Palestine has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
East Palestine scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They breezed by Kingsway Christian at home to the tune of 71-32. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory East Palestine has managed all season.
East Palestine's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kyler Bourne, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 18 rebounds, and Drew Bycroft, who scored 18 points along with four steals. The contest was Bourne's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Owen Jurjavicic, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Wellsville's 17-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 62-40 walloping at the hands of Columbiana on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Wellsville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 585th, while Columbiana is ranked 186th).
East Palestine's win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-3. As for Wellsville, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
East Palestine took a serious blow against Wellsville when the teams last played back in February, falling 73-38. Can East Palestine avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
