Jersey is 8-2 against Carrollton since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Panthers will be playing at home against the Hawks at 4:30 p.m.
Jersey is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Waterloo just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (10-3), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.
Jersey saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kamryn Drainer, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Carrollton strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They walked away with a 9-6 win over Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia.
Lauren Flowers made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Flowers was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, Hannah Uhles was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Vanna Holmes was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Carrollton's victory was their 36th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 30-0. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Jersey, their loss dropped their record down to 8-12-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Jersey has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Carrollton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Jersey couldn't quite get it done against Carrollton in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 3-0. Will the Panthers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
