Baseball Recap: Belle Vernon's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

With a playoff win on the line, Belle Vernon rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They never let the Derry Trojans get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory. The Leopards might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by seven runs or more this season.

Not much got past Parker Lind, who gave up just three hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Derry off the board. Lind has been consistent for a while: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cole Matusik, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Connor Bergman, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Belle Vernon moved to 14-6 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Derry, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-11.

Belle Vernon has already played their next game, a 5-0 victory against Beaver on the 19th. Derry does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
