Baseball Recap: Augusta Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mason County, Augusta was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They blew past the Bellevue Tigers 10-1. Considering the Panthers have won six contests by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Will Kelsch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up six Ks. Augusta is undefeated when Kelsch allows one or fewer earned runs, but 6-8 otherwise.

At the plate, Austin Kiskaden was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Keeton Bach, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Augusta kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

With the victory, Augusta broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-8. As for Bellevue, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-12.

Coming up, Augusta will venture away from home to challenge Pendleton County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bellevue, they will face off against Newport Central Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
