Gilroy has gone 9-1 against Christopher recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Mustangs will welcome the Cougars at 1:00 p.m. Gilroy is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
Gilroy fell victim to Westmont and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors.
Gilroy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Christy Haro, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Christopher challenged Lincoln on Thursday. The Cougars put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 8-1 win. Considering the Cougars have won nine contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Not much got past Katelyn Vega, who gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks to keep Lincoln off the board. Vega has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Sophia McGhie and Kiley Lira did most of the damage at the plate: McGhie went 2-for-3 with one home run, while Lira went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those two hits gave Lira a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Audrina Cabanlit, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.
Christopher was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln only posted a batting average of .130.
Christopher has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Gilroy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-13.
Gilroy got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against Christopher by a conclusive 14-5 score. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
