Jeremy Burke and Larry Hamilton provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Manzanola. The connection was good for 67 yards, the longest such play in A-8 South - Southern (8 Man) this season.
Hoehne extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating McClave, 55-15. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Hoehne's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Sawyer Schafer threw for 206 and three touchdowns and Derrick Cordova had 132 yards receiving. On the ground Vince Valdez chipped in 180 yards. Valdez helped Hoehne's passing attack out by catching one ball for 36 yards.
Bob Schafer's team's Schafer and Cordova have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Schafer has thrown for 531 yards this season, while Cordova, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 20 catches for 332 yards. Alan Peil from the Bobcats leads the league in rushing with 775 yards.
A big matchup in A-8 South - Southern (8 Man) this week will be when Manzanola takes on the Farmers. James Lopez's team is in fifth place, while Hoehne is in first place.
Fowler was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. Earlier in the week, the Grizzlies triumphed over the Bobcats 46-14.
