She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Leah Robinson was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. That run marked the first that she has scored this season. Another player making a difference was Rachel Shewmaker, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Highlands' victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-5-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Bishop Brossart, their record now sits at 14-5.
Bishop Brossart's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Highlands has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Bishop Brossart, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.2 strikeouts. Will Highlands keep running through batters, or will the Mustangs buck the trend?
Highlands took their victory against Bishop Brossart when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bluebirds since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
