Basketball Game Preview: New Palestine Dragons vs. Greenfield-Central Cougars

New Palestine is 8-2 against Greenfield-Central since December of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The New Palestine Dragons will head out to square off against the Greenfield-Central Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, New Palestine beat Greenwood 62-56. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Dragons.

Julius Gizzi went supernova for New Palestine, almost dropping a double-double on 24 points and nine boards. Gizzi's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Slagley, who posted 15 points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Greenfield-Central put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Decatur Central to the tune of 78-39.

New Palestine better keep an eye on Braylon Mullins. He was instrumental in Greenfield-Central's win, shooting 7-for-10 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double on 32 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mullins has scored at least a third of Greenfield-Central's points. Michael Johnson was another key player, going 7 of 8 on his way to 15 points along with six assists and six boards.

Greenfield-Central's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 24.6 points. As for New Palestine, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

New Palestine beat Greenfield-Central 60-48 in their previous meeting back in March. Does New Palestine have another victory up their sleeve, or will Greenfield-Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
