Willow Canyon is on a 17-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Ironwood is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. Willow Canyon will welcome Ironwood at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Willow Canyon made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Sunrise Mountain, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Willow Canyon's pitcher stepped up to hand Sunrise Mountain a 13-0 shutout on Thursday. That 13 run margin sets a new team best for the Wildcats this season.
Easton Spriggs made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in earned runs (zero). She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Willow Canyon let Ari Edwards and Mataya Olson run wild. Edwards went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Olson scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Edwards is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Liberty James, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Willow Canyon hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Ironwood made easy work of Kellis on Thursday and carried off an 11-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won five games by nine runs or more so far this season.
Kellis' batters probably weren't too happy with Alyssa Ridgley, who pitched a no hitter (she gave up zero walks).
At the plate, Ironwood got a massive performance out of Madelaine Gober, who went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles Gober has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Serenity Meyer, who went 3-for-5 with three doubles, two runs, and one RBI.
Ironwood has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. Willow Canyon's victory bumped their record up to 8-6-1.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Willow Canyon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. However, it's not like Ironwood struggles in that department as they've averaged .418. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Willow Canyon's way against Ironwood in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Willow Canyon made off with a 14-0 win. Will Willow Canyon repeat their success, or does Ironwood has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
