After flying high against the Lunenburg Blue Knights last Friday, The Clinton Gaels came back down to earth. Clinton fell just short of Tyngsborough by a score of 46-44. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Several Gaels players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Angel Lopez, who rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Connor Cox was another key contributor, gaining 100 total yards and two touchdowns.
Bryce Goulet went supernova for Tyngsborough, rushing for 202 yards while picking up 8.4 yards per carry, and also throwing for 191 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Tim Guilmette did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 135 receiving yards.
Clinton's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Tyngsborough, their victory was their fifth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 5-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clinton will take on Maynard at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Maynard's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three contests. As for Tyngsborough, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Dracut at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
