Basketball Recap: First Baptist Christian Academy Makes It Six in a Row on the Road

First Baptist Christian Academy had won five straight road games and Julia (Jay) Rose did her part to make it six on Friday. The First Baptist Christian Academy Crusaders narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Matanzas Pirates 44-42 thanks in part to Rose, who posted 21 points in addition to six steals and five rebounds. Rose is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Despite the loss, Matanzas still got an impressive performance from Katelynn Smith, who put up 14 points. Kaylina Vitt was another key player, putting up seven points.

First Baptist Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Matanzas, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. First Baptist Christian Academy will venture away from home to face off against Global Outreach Charter Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. First Baptist Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.1 points per game this season.
