Plano is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Prosper is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Wildcats will welcome the Eagles at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Plano is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Plano is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Plano West on Tuesday. They lost 8-1 to the Wolves.
Plano saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Zhang, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, Prosper made easy work of Rock Hill on Tuesday and carried off a 9-3 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.
Peyton Moya was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 5.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Van Volkenburgh, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Bella Lopez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Prosper was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They are 8-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Prosper's win bumped their record up to 12-10. As for Plano, their loss dropped their record down to 13-10-1.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Plano hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .331. However, it's not like Prosper struggles in that department as they've averaged .344. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Plano's way against Prosper in their previous meeting back in March, as Plano made off with a 12-6 victory. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
