The Norton Panthers typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday the Buckeye Bucks proved too difficult a challenge. Buckeye sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 49-47 win over Norton. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Norton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Noah Willig, who picked up 250 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Lucas Dobbins was another key contributor, rushing for 127 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry.
The win was the third in a row for Buckeye, bringing their record for this year to 10-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.7 points per game. As for Norton, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-1.
Buckeye will head out on the road to face off against Columbian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Norton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
