North County Christian had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They took down Heartland Christian Academy 67-48. North County Christian pushed the score to 52-28 by the end of the third, a deficit Heartland Christian Academy cut but never quite recovered from.
It was another big night for Lynus Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 assists. That makes it five consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of North County Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendrick Robinson, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and eight assists.
Despite the loss, Heartland Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: Titus Bock scored 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bock has scored all season. Brayan Velazquez was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
North County Christian's victory bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Heartland Christian Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North County Christian will take on Metro at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Metro and North County Christian are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads. As for Heartland Christian Academy, Heartland Christian Academy and Heritage Academy will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
