Basketball Recap: Norris Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Norris easily dispatched Waverly on Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Titans fell just short of the Bellevue West Thunderbirds by a score of 76-73 on Friday. While the Titans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Thunderbirds 24-20 in the first quarter.

Loss or not, Norris got some senior leadership from Chris Garner Jr. and Cooper Rice. Garner Jr. went 8-for-10 en route to 22 points, while Rice made all 5 shots he took racking up 14 points. The contest was Garner Jr.'s third in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxsen Urbanovsky, who posted nine points and six boards.

Leading Bellevue West to victory were Carsen Schultz and Keaton Melcher. Schultz shot 86% from beyond the arc on his way to 20 points, while Melcher went 7-for-12 to rack up 20 points. Those 20 points gave Melcher a new career-high. Pierce Parker was another key player, putting up five points and 11 rebounds.

Norris' defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Norris will challenge Wahoo at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bellevue West, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 68-44 loss against Millard North on the 6th.
